Information and links to SafeSport Programs:

Canada and BC have their own ‘Universal Code(s) of Conduct To Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS), Equestrian Canada receives funding from the Federal Government and must adhere to the federal UCCMS. Horse Council BC is governed by the BC Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (BC-UCCMS).

EC Sport License Holders (SLH), to adhere to UCCMS requirements must complete the two Safe Sport training courses, EC Concussion Awareness and Fostering Healthy Equestrian Environments EVERY THREE YEARS.

This applies to every competitor, coach, official, committee member or anyone else with a Sport Licence representing EC. HCBC members are required to adhere to the BC Universal Code of Conduct.

Current Coach Requirements at all EC licensed competitions:

A recent change that has taken several years to implement is that as of January 1, 2024, it is mandatory that all coaches at any EC competition must hold EC Coach Status at a minimum of Licensed Coach Status.

For 2024 the Temporary Coach Status has been extended for one more year to be enable coaches who have not yet completed the requirements to coach at a single show for $175.00.

For more general competition rule enquiries as to dress, equipment or almost anything else, we have our friendly EC Steward at the Bronze competitions and she is always willing to clarify your rule questions.
